Kenilworth’s History
Home of the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma
Kenilworth has been a gathering place for Petaluma and the rest of Sonoma County for over 100 years. It holds a special place in the hearts of our community members. Beginning with humble origins in the mid-19th century, through its heyday during years of horse racing in the early 20th century, and now hosting the world-famous Ugliest Dog Contest, Kenilworth has proven to be invaluable. It has functioned as an emergency center during WWII and recently sheltered hundreds from the catastrophic Sonoma County fires. Kenilworth is an irreplaceable asset and mainstay of Sonoma County.
